You’ll recognize her from such shows as “Bold and the Beautiful”, “The OC” and “Entourage”. But this season good girl Kayla Ewell, becomes bad girl Vicki Donovan on the CW’s “Vampire Diaries”. Based upon the books of L.J Smith, “Vampire Diaries” has received a lot of buzz and was CW’s highest rated premier to date! We asked Kayla to take some time and talk about this exciting new show and her wicked character.

Tell us about your character, Vicki Donovan.
Vicki Donovan is a high school girl who uses drugs and sex as a way to cope and escape her rough life. She is the kind of girl who has no shame and doesn’t understand why anyone does. She is basically lost and is the first to turn into a vampire.
When you first read the script what drew you to this character?
I wanted to role of Vicki over any other character because she is the most unlike who I am at heart. I wanted to push my acting, become someone completely different and challenge myself.
We saw a few bruises on you during your photo shoot. That must mean you do your own stunts!
I do actually do my own stunts and it is so much fun! They always have a stunt double for me on set just in case, but I enjoy the thrill of doing my own. I have been pushed over the edge of a 7 story building, I have jumped off cars, been slammed into buses and a bunch of other things. I am very proud of my bruises!

Vampires have been a great success in the past and are currently continuing to be in the present. Why do you think people are so attracted to these characters?
People love Vampires because they are sexy, mysterious, unattainable, and everyone wants what they can’t have!
You have played great characters on many different shows. What would be the ultimate role you’d like to pursue in the future?
One of my ultimate dream roles would be a classic period piece such as Keira Knightly in “Pride and Prejudice” or Anne Hathaway in “Becoming Jane”. A role such as either of these would challenge me again which I would really enjoy!
