Made for the 1962 exhibition “Furniture as Objects of Art,” the Sergio Rodrigues Quotation Marks lounge chair was never put into production due to the high costs involved. The one-of-a-kind expensive chair currently rests inside the NoHo Modern’s new store in Hollywood. The NoHo Modern team has lately bought and renovated a 1920s Hollywood building, where they are showcasing a new collection of NoHo Modern designs, including the $7,500 bronze-legged credenzas and $950 leather-clad bar stools. Jeremy Petty, co-owner of NoHo Modern, said, “The only thing more rare than a rare piece of furniture is the buyer for that rare piece of furniture.” The $125,000 Quotation Marks lounge chair is named so for the cutouts in its sling back. The chair features a jacaranda frame, a circular seat and a top rail with a span of 3.5 feet. The Quotation Marks lounge chair is listed at 1stdibs.
